OVERVIEW:  A multipurpose port comprising two main areas: Puerto Nuevo (Puerto Norte) and Puerto Sur. All port facilities are under the jurisdiction of Buenos Aires Port Authority. The port, a major regional hub, handles most types of cargo including passengers, Ro-Ro, containers, liquid bulk, liquefied gas, breakbulk and fish. The old commercial basins of Puerto Madero are now used by leisure craft.
LOCATION:  On the southern shore of Rio de la Plata in the NE of the country, 110 n.m. WNW of Montevideo.
