OVERVIEW:  A sheltered port handling containers, dry bulk, chemicals, petroleum products, forest products, paper and metal. Commercial operations are centred on Ajos Island and the port area is also known as Port of Ajos.
The port of Kemi is a Comprehensive port in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  The port lies 8.5 km. SSW of Kemi at the head of the Gulf of Bothnia, 20 km. east of the border with Sweden and 95 km. NW of Oulu.
