OVERVIEW:
A naturally-sheltered port. Handles a range of cargoes including dry and liquid bulk
breakbulk, Ro-Ro and containers. There is also a passenger terminal for cruise vessels
and ferries. Other facilities nearby include a military port, small craft harbour
and several terminals for local passenger ferries.
LOCATION:
At the head of Izmir Bay (Izmir Korfezi), 200 km. SSE of Canakkale and 330 km. SSW
of Istanbul.
