CAHAL
OVERVIEW:
A naturally-sheltered and ice-free port of regional importance. Handles dry and liquid
bulk, containerised, breakbulk (including forestry), Ro-Ro cargoes and passenger vessels
Harbour also contains a naval base, shipyard, fishing, leisure and offshore support
berths.
The port is one of Transport Canada’s Port of Refuge ports.
LOCATION:
On the southern shore of the Nova Scotia peninsula, Halifax lies 650 ESE of Quebec
City and 660 km. ENE of Boston, Massachusetts.
