OVERVIEW:  The prime commercial port of the Sovetskaya Gavan area, Khabarovsk Region. Vanino is naturally sheltered and open throughout the year. Cargoes handled include containers, dry and liquid bulk, forest products, railway wagons, passengers and general cargo.
LOCATION:  On the western shore of the Tatar Strait, the water area includes parts of Vanin and Muchke Bays. The port is 930 km. NE of Vladivostock and 680 km. north of Sapporo, Japan.
