OVERVIEW:  There are six main facilities located within the Shannon Estuary. Shannon Foynes Port Company (SFPC) facilities are located at Foynes, Limerick City (Ted Russell Dock) and Shannon Airport Aviation Jetty; the port of Limerick is included elsewhere in this publication. SFPC is also responsible for navigation to privately owned facilities located at Moneypoint, Aughinish and Tarbert. Cargoes handled include bauxite, alumina, chemicals, petroleum products, coal, project and breakbulk.
The port of Shannon Foynes Port is a Core port in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  On the Shannon Estuary on the west coast of Ireland.

PORT LIMITS:  The Shannon Estuary comprises 500 sq.km. of navigable water extending from Loop Head in County Clare, and Kerry Head, in County Kerry, eastwards to the city of Limerick, a distance
