OVERVIEW:  Reported delay in installation of a mandatory direct-to-vessel shiploader, resulting in facility not in operation. Cargo operations transferred to Puerto Drummond.
A deep water port, with one finger jetty, open to sea and swell from west to N×W. Company transports steam coal via railcar to the storage facility from El Hatillo mine. Port has the capability to load all sizes of vessels from handy-size up to Capesize bulkers. Cargo handled bulk steam coal.
LOCATION:  In Magdelena state on the Caribbean coast 12.3 n.m. south of Santa Marta and 85.0 n.m. NE×E of Cartagena.
