OVERVIEW:
A sheltered port handling mainly the export of nickel ore using barges to transfer
cargo to vessels at anchor. The port includes Transshipment anchorages at Pomalaa
and Tanjung Lepee. There are also berths available for small vessels handling breakbulk
dry bulk and bulk liquid cargoes. The port is owned and operated by PT Aneka Tambang,
a state mining enterprise, under the supervision of the Indonesian Government.
LOCATION:
On the eastern shore of Mengkoka Bay in SE Sulewesi, 105 km. WSW of Kendari and 240
km. ENE of Makassar.
