OVERVIEW:  One of the longest rivers in South America, total length approx. 1,330 n.m. Ports and terminals up to Matanzas at Mile 196 have port entries. Between Matanzas and Cuidad Bolivar, there are several points that become impassable to sea-going ships during the LW season. Above Soledad, the river has many sand bars and the channels are narrow.
