OVERVIEW:
A naturally sheltered port handling mainly breakbulk, dry bulk, petroleum products,
containers, cruise passengers and fish. The port was severely damaged during the earthquake
and tsunami of 2011.
LOCATION:
At the head of Ofunato Wan on the east coast of Honshu, 270 km. NE of Niigata and
420 km. NNE of Tokyo.
