OVERVIEW:
A major industrial port acting as a hub for the automotive, steel and petrochemical
industries. The port handles coal, ore, grain, scrap metal, pig iron, containers,
vehicles, breakbulk, crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals and liquefied gas. Much
of the port is constructed on reclaimed land.
LOCATION:
On the northern shore of the Seto Inland Sea in western Honshu, 20 km. WSW of Okayama
and 135 km. west of Kobe.
