OVERVIEW:  A sheltered port handling a range of cargoes including dry and liquid bulk, containers, Ro-Ro and breakbulk. There are also facilities to handle cruise vessels, fishing boats and leisure craft at the port. Small passenger, leisure and fishing vessels can also be accommodated at berths on the Rio Douro, near Porto. The outer part of Leixoes is protected by artificial breakwaters.
The port of Leixoes is a Core port in the Atlantic Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  Leixoes lies approx. 2.5 n.m. north of the mouth of the Rio Douro, 6.5 km. NW of Porto. Douro berths are located on the river, near the Dom Luis Bridge in Porto.
