OVERVIEW:
The port is open for navigation all the year round; however, due to its position,
size and weather conditions in the area, it cannot be used as a sheltering port. The
port is divided into two parts: the Southern Harbour (Commercial Port); and the Northern
harbour (Sakhalin Western Sea Port (SWSP)). Cargo berths are situated in both Northern
and Southern harbours. SWSP supports the offshore energy industry.
LOCATION:
On the western coast of Sakhalin island, in the Tartarsky Strait of the Japan Sea
and at the head of Nevelskoy Bay.
