OVERVIEW:  The port is open for navigation all the year round; however, due to its position, size and weather conditions in the area, it cannot be used as a sheltering port. The port is divided into two parts: the Southern Harbour (Commercial Port); and the Northern harbour (Sakhalin Western Sea Port (SWSP)). Cargo berths are situated in both Northern and Southern harbours. SWSP supports the offshore energy industry.
LOCATION:  On the western coast of Sakhalin island, in the Tartarsky Strait of the Japan Sea and at the head of Nevelskoy Bay.
