ESGIJ

OVERVIEW:  A sheltered port handling dry and liquid bulk, liquefied gas, Ro-Ro, passengers, containers and breakbulk cargo. There are also facilities for fishing boats and leisure craft
The port of Gijon is a Core port in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  On the north coast, 150 km. west of Santander and 220 km. east of Coruna.
CHARTS:  BA Charts No. 1153, 1154, 1290 and 1291.

PORT LIMITS:  The limits of the harbour are defined by a line between the extreme eastern end of the Contradique port expansion and Dique Santa Catalina. Beyond those limits, a vessel is still considered an ``arrived ship'', but is exempt from paying port dues, except in Zone II.
