OVERVIEW:
The largest port in Romania, Constantza comprises the main areas of Northern Port
and Southern Port. The berths are protected from the north and east by a 9.0 km. breakwater
and from the south by a 3.3 km. breakwater. Northern Port handles petroleum products
ore, coal, cereals, containers, metal, chemicals, timber and breakbulk cargo. Southern
Port handles chemicals, passengers, Ro-Ro, containers, cereals, ore, coke, coal and
breakbulk cargo. The port has access to the Danube-Black Sea Canal and much of the
port’s activity involves transshipment of cargo between seagoing vessels and barges.

Core port in the Rhine-Danube Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European Transport
Network.
LOCATION:
On the western shore of the Black Sea, 70 n.m. NNE of Varna and 190 n.m. NNW of Istanbul.
