OVERVIEW:  A single berth port handling imports of crude oil in support of the Cauvery Basin Refinery. The refinery produces LPG, naphtha, kerosene, diesel and fuel oil
LOCATION:  On the east coast in the southern part of the country, 270 km. SSW of Chennai and 400 km. WNW of Cochin. Chidambaranar is bordered to the north by the port of Karaikal and the south by the port of Nagapattinam.
PORT LIMITS:  The port lies within the port limits of Nagapattinam
