The port consists of facilities in Puerto Comercial at the head of the bay, and in
Ensenada de Escombreras (Escombreras Cove) on the eastern side of the bay. Berths

containers, breakbulk, livestock, passengers and dry and liquid bulk cargoes. Cartagena
is also an important Spanish Naval base
