OVERVIEW:  France's primary cross-Channel ferry port, Calais also handles dry bulk, breakbulk cruise passengers and unaccompanied Ro-Ro cargo. The port comprises Arriere Port and Bassin Carnot forming the old harbour, the more modern areas of Avant Port and Bassin Henri Ravisse and the most recent outer area known as Bassin Charles De Gaulle.
The port of Calais is a Core port in the North Sea-Mediterranean Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
