OVERVIEW:  Bell Bay is a river port and the main port of Tasmania. It lies in deep sheltered waters, has nine operational berths and excellent road and rail links. It consists of Beauty Point (Inspection Head), the Bell Bay berths, the Long Reach berths and a marina. Launceston is up the River Tamar and has Kings Wharf handling general cargo.
LOCATION:  On the north coast of Tasmania, on the lower reaches of the Tamar River, some 200 n.m south of Melbourne and 88 n.m. north of Hobart.
Bell Bay: On the eastern shore within 7.0 n.m. of the entrance of the Tamar River.
Beauty Point: 41° 09.80′ S, 146° 49.47′ E, on the western shore within 6.5 n.m. of the entrance of the Tamar River.
