OVERVIEW:
Some commercial activity has been relocated from the city of Baku to a modern harbour
at Alat. The port handles passengers, dry bulk, project, offshore, breakbulk, bulk
liquid cargoes and there are also facilities for leisure craft, fishing boats and
military vessels.
LOCATION:
On the northern shore of the Baku Bay in the western Caspian Sea, 260 km. WNW of Turkmenbasy
and 530 km. NNW of Tehran. The Dubendi Oil Terminal lies 35 km. to the east of Baku.
