OVERVIEW:  Commercial activity includes the handling of fertiliser, grain, liquid ammonia, metals foodstuffs and offshore cargo. There are also facilities supporting military vessels and a small fishing harbour.
LOCATION:  On the west coast of Abu Qir Bay, on the Mediterranean coast, approx. 30 km. NE of Alexandria. A CBM berth is located 4.7 n.m. to the east of the port.

APPROACHES:  A dredged approach channel is available with charted depth 16.0 m. The centre of the channel is indicated by leading lights/beacons and its limits are marked by lateral buoys. There are several islets, rocks and shoals along the coast either side of
