Iran is a country located in the Middle East and central Eurasia. It is directly bordered on the north by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan but also by Kazakhstan and Russia by means of the Caspian Sea. To the east lie Afghanistan and Pakistan, to the south the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and on the west Iraq and Turkey.
