Tarakan: port handles general cargo and tankers; located on an island in the Kalimantan Timur province of Indonesia, off the NE coast of Borneo.

Makassar: port handles containers, general cargo, bulk and tankers. Port is the provincial capital of south Sulawesi, on the SW coast of the island.

Ambon: The capital and main city of Ambon Island, part of the Maluku Island group in the northern part of the Banda Sea.

Ternate: Port handles general cargo and petroleum products. Located on the SW coast of the island of Ternate, off the west coast of Halmahera.

Samarinda: On the east coast of Borneo, in east Kalimantan, on the northern bank of the Mahakam River, this river port handles general and bulk cargoes and tankers.

Pantoloan: Port handles general cargo, tankers and passenger vessels; located on the east shore of Palu Bay in NW Central Sulawesi.

Gorontalo: Port consists of four piers and is located within the waters of Tomini Bay on the south coast of North Sulawesi Province.

Bitung: Port is being developed as international hub and currently handles general cargo, bulk, tankers, containers and cruise vessels. Located in Lembeh Strait, on NE tip of Sulawesi, 50 km. east of capital city Manado.

Sorong: Port comprises of Sorong and Doom Island, located on the NW coast of Irian Jaya. Lokal Pier is located on Doom Island. Handles local ferries, general cargo, containers and petroleum products.

Manokwari: Port handles general cargo, passengers and petroleum products; locacted on NW coast of Irian Jaya.

Fak-Fak: Located on the NW coast of Irian Jaya, Papua Island.

Biak: This natural harbour, bordered on south side by barrier reef, handles mainly forest and frozen fish products and small quantities of cloves, cocoa and coffee. Located on the south side of Biak Island off the north coastline of Irian Jaya (Papua).

Jayapura: On the northern coast of Irian Jaya in eastern Indonesia, approx. 15 n.m. from the Papua New Guinea boarder.

Tolitoli: Located in Tolitoli Bay, on the NW of Sulawesi, this port mainly handles coastal dry cargo and passenger vessels.

Balikpapan: This multipurpose port is located on the east coast of Borneo, in Kalimantan, on the west side of the Makassar Strait.

Kendari: This small port on the east coast of Sulawesi has facilities for small tankers and general cargo vessels.

Merauke: Primarily a breakbulk general cargo port servicing the local province. Passenger and container vessels are also handled. Located on the south coast of Irian Jaya on the right bank of the Merauke River in Merauke province.

Pare-Pare: This multipurpose port on the southwest coast of Sulawesi handles dry and liquid bulk, general and domestic passenger traffic.
