Panama ports: Coco Solo North, Colon, Cristobal and Manzanillo all newly amended

Coco Solo North

One of four port areas at the Atlantic end of the Panama Canal. Primary facility is Colon Container Terminal, a subsidiary of Evergreen Group of Taiwan. Central American Line SA has a tank storage facility within the area. Manzanillo and Panama Free Zone (Colon City) are adjacent to the port.

Colon

This private port constitutes Quay No. 3 in the area of Fort Lesseps. Used by small vessels of LOA not greater than 100 m. engaged in coastal trade between Colon and Bocas del Toro, and international trade between Colombia and Panama. Foreign-going vessels are handled primarily in Coco Solo NorthManzanillo and Cristobal.

Cristobal

Located on the east side of Limon Bay at the Atlantic entrance to the Canal, Cristobal port handles general cargo, containers, petroleum products, cruise vessels, Ro-Ro and bulk cargoes.

Manzanillo

 

The facility is privately managed and operated by Manzanillo International Terminal, Panama SA. The National Port Authority is represented on-site and maintains vessel traffic control functions. The port also has rail links. Manzanillo International Terminal (MIT) is primarily a container transshipment facility servicing major line-haul carriers and many feeder services with connections throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. General cargo and Ro-Ro is also handled.
