ZASDB

OVERVIEW:  The only iron ore handling port in South Africa. The port also serves base metal mines an adjacent heavy minerals smelter and a nearby crude storage facility. Facilities are located within a natural harbour with additional protection provided by an artificial breakwater.
LOCATION:  On the west coast of South Africa, 54 n.m. north of Cape Town.
CHARTS:  SANHO Charts No. ZA300030, 400040 and 500040.
BA Charts No. 1236, 4142, 4145 and 4146.
Vessels proceeding to the port must carry BA Charts No. 1236 and 412, or acceptable digital equivalent. If not on board, charts can be delivered during pilot boarding, at vessel’s cost.
