OVERVIEW:  Primarily a bulk port exporting yellow silica sand.
LOCATION:  In the northern end of Van Phong Bay, 29.7 n.m. N×E of Nha Trang and 67.4 n.m. S×E of Qui Nhon.

PILOTAGE:  Compulsory for all vessels. Pilot boards in position 12° 30.70′ N, 109° 23.30′ E, operational only during daylight hours. The pilot station at Nha Trang is located 25 n.m. south of Van Phong Bay. Vessels proceeding to the port should call Nha Trang port on VHF Channel 16, when in range, to obtain instructions.
Vessel will proceed to a nominated anchorage with pilot on board if not proceeding to berth.
